AMST210 Capitalism, American Style
This course introduces students to capitalism as an economic system beginning with its philosophical and moral foundations and its evolution in the United States. The principles of free markets will be applied to a variety of historical and current issues ranging from business regulation and labor markets to health care and the environment.

AMST310 The American Economy in Literature
An introduction to economic theories using selections from American literature. In addition to reading the full version of "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand, course readings will include excerpts and short works by authors including Frost, Steinbeck and others. The texts will be used to suggest interesting problems to which economic theory can provide some insight. Economics topics to be covered will include supply and demand, capitalism, public goods and government regulation, trade, and inflation.
